Rapper Eminem, 51, samples the work of Dutch producer and composer Hans van Hemert, 79. The music, which Hans produced in 1972, can be heard throughout Eminem’s song.

“It’s an incredible honor.”

A while ago, Hans was asked if one of the biggest rappers of the moment could try his music. It turns out it was none other than Eminem and producer Dr. Dre who wanted to use Hans’ music from 1972 in his new single “Lucifer”.

Hans’ work is almost instantly recognizable on Eminem’s single. “On Lucifer, listeners will almost immediately recognize the distinctive bouzouki sound and melody used in The Land of Milk and Honey,” Hans’ daughter Hannah wrote in a press release.

Dr. Dre gave Hans’ melody a new look and it can be heard throughout the song. “It’s an incredible honor that a song that was made over fifty years ago still resonates with artists and listeners today,” says Hans.

The song “Lucifer” is part of Eminem’s new album. Death of Salim Shadi Which was released earlier this week.
