With Cooling X, Cooler Master is building a gaming PC that uniquely combines the know-how out there; The side panels of the case are integrated into the cooling system. The fast hardware therefore remains throttling-free and the system is relatively quiet under load, despite its volume being less than 15 litres. However, the effect could be better. At first glance, the Cooler Master Cooling X looks a bit like the Corsair One i500 we recently tested. It’s a tower of about the same height and is narrower and shallower, so it has a capacity of just 15 litres, compared to the Corsair’s 22 litres. Just like the One i500, the Cooling X uses water cooling for both the CPU and GPU, more on that on the next page.
Cooler Master makes a few different selections of the hardware used. While the Corsair PC uses an Intel processor, the Cooling This is AMD’s current top model in its consumer processor lineup, with 16 cores, half of which have access to additional 3D V-Cache. The power consumption of the AMD chip is much lower, so hopefully the cooling issues and power limitations as we saw with the Corsair won’t occur. Cooler Master launched the Cooling It has now significantly reduced the price of the system to €4,999. The system has a two-year warranty as standard, but is extended by one year after registration.
