Parents and children affected by the benefits scandal are demanding that the current search for Laurentian be stopped. According to them, the victims’ recovery is being robbed by the “hunt” of the princess.

AD reported last week that several complaints had been received within the Finance Ministry about the behaviour of Princess Laurentien, who helps victims of the childcare allowance scandal with the Equal Worthy Recovery Foundation.

“helpless game”

This may include conversations where emotions run high. The Equal Redress Foundation has denied the allegations, calling them “slanderous accusations.”

In a letter to “Netherlands, Media and Politics”, a group of victims has now also responded to the course of events. “We parents have once again become the helpless playthings of those in power. And now also Laurentian. Even if this patient and determined woman fell prey to a deliberate character assassination, the fairy tale must be very dark.”

The group asks for peace and quiet and wants to “implement this path with Laurentien for parents who want it.” The letter writers say they did not recognize the painted portrait of the princess.

“Work against the odds”

According to them, both the civil servants and the princess “worked against the odds.” The parents stated that it was “not surprising” that the conversations “have been and will continue to be emotional, difficult and confrontational.” They asked everyone to avoid a “recovery scandal.” “We are still in mourning. Give us our peace in the difficult process of emotional and financial recovery. Don’t you want that too?”

The letter was signed with full names and initials. According to one of the signatories, victim Christy Rongen, many parents and children support the call, but not everyone dares to sign the letter. “Because they fear it won’t help their recovery. That’s why we’re making the decision and advocating for all parents.”

The beneficiaries’ parents were questioned last September during a parliamentary inquiry into Dutch fraud policy. As Dulcie told her story. “Pay, pay, pay, I will never forget it.”
