“Apple Still Working on Cheaper Ad-Free Subscription for Apple TV+” – Picture & Audio – News

But their content is of better quality than the competition.

To be honest, I don’t really agree with that. Maybe in terms of production value, but I think all the shows are on the safe side and the visuals are often pretty perfect. And I don’t just mean the makeup and hair and costumes, the show looks clinical on many levels. This isn’t just a problem with Apple TV, I’ve noticed it more there. There’s also a politically correct flavor to a lot of the shows. And it’s not just the way the cast looks, but also, for example, how the characters act during the time period the show is set in. This is especially the case with Masters of the Air and For All Mankind.

Series quickly become soap operas when there are multiple seasons. I’ve also seen this problem with many Netflix series. Suddenly there’s a focus on the previous background characters. It’s all just filler to fill the seasons, while the main story doesn’t want to flow.

I’ve tried Apple TV+ a few times now during the free months, but each time it’s been disappointing. Throwing a big bag of money at it and having stars attached to it just isn’t enough. I especially miss a series where Apple dares to go beyond just the politically correct stuff. They had a goal of being the new HBO, but right now they don’t dare include a character like Tony Soprano in their series. Sexist, racist, narcissistic, homophobic, and ruthless, yet he’s the one you cheer for. In an Apple series, such a character can never be the protagonist.
