A child died of rabies in Marrakesh after being bitten by a stray dog. The Moroccan Association for Human Rights condemns the “negligence” of health services and demands an investigation.

The child died last week in Marrakesh Hospital. The Moroccan Association for Human Rights stated in a letter to the authorities that health services failed to provide adequate care for the child, which led to his death. The association calls for a “comprehensive and impartial” investigation to determine responsibilities and take the necessary measures.

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights also calls for compensation for the child’s family and for urgent measures to be taken to protect the population, in particular the arrest of stray dogs, the vaccination of people at risk and the fight against rabies.
