Xiaomi may be working on a smartphone with a foldable display. Huawei also wants to introduce such a smartphone in the foreseeable future. This type of smartphone will have two folds, instead of the single fold found in current foldable smartphones.

Xiaomi wants to launch a smartphone in the Mix line, Leak reports are usually reliable.No further specifications or images of the phone are available. The first logical moment for the reveal is the Mobile World Congress, the phone exhibition that will be held in Barcelona at the end of February next year.

Huawei wants to introduce its dual-folding smartphone earlier. A senior executive from the company was recently photographed using a prototype. The functional advantage of a dual-folding smartphone is that it packs a larger display into a case that is the length and width of a regular smartphone. While foldable smartphones that expand into a small tablet currently have screen sizes of 7 to 8 inches, this device will have a 10-inch display, similar to a tablet. The downside is that the dual-folding makes the case thicker.

Xiaomi hasn’t announced anything yet. The company recently released the Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip with foldable displays. Prototypes of smartphones with dual foldable displays have been shown at trade shows for several years, including by display supplier Samsung Display.
