This summer, classical concerts by candlelight will be held at the SS Rotterdam.

Listening to classical music is a special thing in itself, but also consider the atmosphere: the SS Rotterdam is filled with thousands of burning candles. This will become a reality this summer during a series of candlelight concerts.

The unique shows have already been performed in more than 150 cities around the world. In July and August, six concerts are held on the historic Rotterdam steamship. You will hear the music of Queen, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Hans Zimmer.

Originally, Candlelight was reserved for classical music, with concerts dedicated to composers like Vivaldi and Chopin. Today, playlists have expanded to include songs by contemporary artists like ABBA and Ed Sheeran, as well as movie and anime soundtracks.

Queen and Coldplay

The series begins on Sunday 14 July with a tribute to the Queen. The MSM String Quartet will play thirteen of the band’s songs such as bohemian rhapsody, i want to break free And we will Rock YouShow starts at 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

Do Coldplay and Imagine Dragons make you absolutely happy? Then you want to head to the SS Rotterdam on Sunday, July 14 (9:30 p.m.) or Sunday, August 25 (5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.). During Coldplay’s meet-up with Imagine Dragons, popular songs from both bands will be played by the string quartet Agathe. Hans Zimmer
