Schiphol wants to accelerate innovation in baggage handling in cooperation with Norwegian and South Korean airports

During the Future Travel Experience conference, being organized this week in Dublin, Ireland, the BOOST program through which airports are forming this collaboration was launched. This mainly concerns new technologies and improvements in the field of robotics and automation.

“Our ultimate goal is to reduce physical stress and improve working conditions for baggage handlers. Through BOOST we can work faster and jointly on intelligent solutions for this purpose,” says Dennis Van Cleef, Program Leader at Schiphol. “Information and insights are shared structurally with key partners.” Others, so everyone can benefit from multiple tests without having to perform them independently.”

Schiphol, Avinor and Incheon each face a specific technology challenge to automate the baggage process. For example, Schiphol is further developing COBOT, a collaborative baggage robot, while Incheon is working on the concept of automated handling of unusual baggage.
