When you hear the name Nokia, you probably think back to the time of the 3310. This is not surprising, because then all kinds of brands overtook it.

This caused the Finnish Phones to fall into a deep ravine. Where before almost every person owned a Nokia, now it is very difficult to find someone in your group of friends who has such a device.

Nokia continues with the G22

Where many companies have given up (LG, HTC, Ericsson), Nokia continues to make phones steadily. Admittedly, under the auspices of other companies, it didn’t produce much. The Nokia G22 might change that.

Well, the G22 isn’t a phone with specs that would make the Pixel line, iPhone, or Galaxy S tough. However, it contains something unique. Something for me that all expensive phones should have. I’m talking about the possibility of fixing your phone yourself.

Back in the day, when my iPhone 4S needed a new battery, I replaced it myself. It wasn’t difficult as all you had to do was disassemble the phone, take out the back cover, and replace the battery.

The problem of smartphones today

Nowadays it is not that simple anymore. In fact, you first have to collect all kinds of parts before you can finally get to it. It’s so hard that I can’t even start it myself. Fortunately, Nokia G22 offers a solution.

With the Nokia G22, you can fix your phone again on your own. iFixit has created special tools and manuals for this device so you can replace whatever you want. Do you want to install a new battery or screen? This is done easily.

Thanks to Nokia, I had the opportunity to install the device myself, and it was surprisingly easy. You have to be careful that some of the parts are made of plastic and you have to make sure not to break them. That would be a waste.

Nokia G22 is the answer

Nokia G22 mainly focuses on the repairability of the battery, back, screen and USB port. However, this is just the beginning for me. How cool would it be if you could replace important parts yourself, like the processor or the camera? Instead of a repair, you can actually upgrade your phone.

This feature is where the Nokia G22 really excels, and I secretly hope this product works. Because while the specs may not be impressive, it would be good for the wallet and the environment if more brands followed suit.

So the Nokia G22 is a good starting point, but it’s a relatively cheap phone. It will be interesting to see if the Finns do this for their more expensive models, such as the X30, too. Then other brands can follow.
