Rumor: Google Pixel Watch 2 has better battery life due to third-party SOC – Tablets & Phones – News

The Google Pixel Watch 2 will have the Snapdragon W5 soc, rather than the Samsung soc like the first Pixel Watch. This should result in better battery life than on the first model.

Snapdragon W5 is a 5nm soc, which is much newer than Exynos 9100’s 10nm processor. The battery itself, which is 290mAh on the Pixel watch, isn’t much larger on the Watch 2, though. 9to5Google reports. The site believes there are new sensors, such as a way to measure skin temperature and track stress levels throughout the day. They came from Fitbit, the fitness tracker company that was owned by Google for several years.

It is not known whether it was W5 or W5 +. The latter is included in the recently introduced TicWatch Pro 5. The W5 is included in the OPPO Watch 3, among others. Samsung itself uses its own latest socs for its Wear OS watches. Google relies on its Tensor socs in smartphones, among other things, and its tablet so far is on Exynos socs.

Google wants to release the Pixel Watch 2 in the fall. It should happen around the same time as the Pixel 8 phones. Google usually announces new devices around early October, with releases later in the fall.
