The United Arab Emirates wants to establish a field hospital in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by President Mohammed bin Zayed. The official Emirates News Agency (WAM) said on Monday that it must provide the necessary medical assistance to the Palestinian population in the war-torn coastal enclave.
Five planes left Abu Dhabi carrying the necessary materials for the hospital. It is scheduled to be delivered to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish and then transferred to the Gaza Strip.
The field hospital will be equipped with 150 beds and will provide various forms of specialized medical care. With this initiative, the UAE expresses its solidarity with the Palestinian people, “especially in light of the difficult circumstances they are currently facing.”
Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, more than half of the Gaza Strip’s 2.2 million residents have been forced to leave their homes. Many have fled from the north, where heavy fighting is taking place, to the south of the region and are living in precarious conditions.
Relief organizations describe it as a humanitarian disaster. According to health authorities affiliated with the extremist Hamas movement that controls the Gaza Strip, there are hardly any hospitals operating. (Belga)
