Nowadays, dog owners also swear by anti-authoritarian breeding. We can draw this conclusion after a new series by Frans Brommier, who is 79 years old and still working hard. And immediately in the first minutes he stood with his owner at a crossroads in the forest, where the dog’s friendly question was: “Well, which way will we go?”
Stevie the dog never learned commands. His owner, a holistic human-animal therapist, wants Stevie to make his own choices, because it gives him more self-confidence and less stress. This costs her dearly when Stevie lies on her stomach in the middle of the woods path and refuses to move. It is a pleasure for the viewer to hear the eternal sawing voice of Brummett: “Now it would be useful to give him an order…”
To the dog course with Promate It was clearly made by a dog man. The director talks about his dog, Bobby, and the dog he owned in the past: “An unguided missile.” This comes soon after when he continues puppy training with owner Miriam and Billy the Beagle at the Amsterdam Puss. The owner prefers to talk about a “gentle stubborn breed.”
In no time Billy disappeared into the trees. Brummett in a chainsaw voice: “The Beagle’s the boss now, isn’t he?” When Billy is completely out of sight, the owner seems lost. Contact is not allowed, according to the teaching method of the anti-authoritarian behavior therapist and dog trainer. Okay, so Amsterdamse Bos is big.
Dog trainer Luke comes from another school, but he has been in the profession for sixty years. Training him to herd sheep would make the dog more “manageable.” The crux of the matter, according to Lueck, is that the dog recognizes the owner and recognizes him as a natural leader. This does not work well during training, as evidenced by the number of times the owner helplessly hits the ground with the stick and shouts things like: “Come here!” And remember!”
With Brummett’s work, sometimes you’ve seen it after one episode, but we can’t get enough of those dog whispers. Fortunately, there are still three episodes left.
