Republican presidential candidate Trump’s campaign team said some of its internal communications were hacked. The team says Iran is behind the hack, but no direct evidence has been provided.

Trump said on his Truth Social social media site that the hackers had only gotten “general information.” He also blamed Iran. He did not elaborate on the matter.

The indictment against Iran comes a day after Microsoft reported that hackers with ties to the Iranian government tried to break into an account within the Trump campaign team in June. Investigators said the attack involved a “senior official” within the team. No name was given.

Trump team responds to one Politico published The hack was reported. The news site says it received emails from an anonymous account containing documents from the Trump campaign team.

“Iranian conspiracy”

“These documents were illegally obtained from foreign sources hostile to the United States in order to influence the 2024 election and sow chaos in our democratic process,” Trump spokesman Stephen Cheung said in a statement, warning the media against distributing the documents. “Then do exactly what they want.”

“The Iranians know that President Trump will end their reign of terror, just as he did in his first four years in the White House,” Cheung said. Trump has been at odds with Iran throughout his presidency. Last month, CNN reported that the United States had information about an Iranian plot against Trump. Iran disputes that.
