Yesterday’s stage was one of the fastest road stages in Tour de France history, ending in a bunch sprint into Pau where Jasper Philipsen beat Wout van Aert to the finish line.
Pidcock follows Ayuso and Primoz Roglic as the other high-profile names to have left the race in the past 24 hours. The Slovenian dropped from sixth overall after crashing on Thursday’s stage 12.

Tom Pidcock withdraws from 2024 Tour de France due to COVID-19 symptoms
Yesterday saw Juan Ayuso withdraw from the race early on Stage 13. The Spaniard dropped out of the top 10 after also testing positive for coronavirus.
Ineos Grenadiers rider Tom Pidcock has withdrawn from the race this morning. His team announced that he will return home to recover from his Covid-19 infection.
