A group of Republican politicians are campaigning for the opposition party, the Democrats, out of disgust with Donald Trump. “I find him rude, negative, inactive,” Sam Campana, the former mayor of Scottsdale, Arizona, told NOS. The Arizona Republicans’ behavior has caused an uproar within their own party. “We’re being called Democratic whores,” Campana says. “It’s very childish and negative, and that’s exactly what I want to distance myself from.”

According to the Harris campaign, the group includes 80 prominent Republicans. Former state governors have also joined the defectors, as have two former cabinet ministers and 16 former Republican members of Congress.

Even Trump’s former press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, is now campaigning for Harris. “While I may not agree with her on everything, I know she will fight for our freedom, protect our democracy, and represent America with honor and dignity on the world stage,” said Grisham, who was also Melania Trump’s chief of staff.

Some Republican rebels have been critical of Trump for some time. Captain Giles has previously praised Biden and Harris’ economic policies, which would create thousands of jobs in Arizona. Campana, by contrast, favors the Democrats’ abortion policy over the Republicans’.

But Harris’s nomination has prompted them to campaign actively for her, too. Harris’s team calls the group a “campaign within a campaign.”

Trump has yet to respond to Republicans about Harris.. However, last weekend he also attacked Georgia’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp. In a tirade that lasted more than ten minutes, he called him “Little Brian,” a lowly governor and a traitor. Kemp refused a request from Trump in 2020 to tamper with the election results in his state.
