Noah Lyles didn’t let his COVID-19 disappointment at the Paris Olympics hurt his ego too badly.
Liles responded to Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill’s comments, claiming he did not know Hill’s identity on Friday. The only identification Liles offered was Hill’s nickname, “Cheetah.”
“What is the leopard man from football, what is his name? I can’t remember his name,” Liles said, before turning and asking someone else, “What is the name of the football player who thinks he is fast?”

Initially, Hill, who was recently named the NFL’s top 100 player of 2024, spoke out against Lyles for his bronze-medal performance in the men’s 200m in Paris the day after Lyles tested positive for COVID-19.
“Noah Lyles can’t say anything after what just happened to him. Then he wants to go out and pretend to be sick. I feel like that’s just bullshit,” Hill said.
Hill even went so far as to say he would beat Lyles in the race.
“I’m going to beat Noah Lyles, I’m not going to beat him by a lot, but I’m going to beat Noah Lyles. When I beat him, I’m going to put on a COVID mask and tell him I mean it,” Hill said.
Hill is arguably the fastest player in the NFL, and like Lyles, he is a former track star. Hill ran a league-leading speed of 23.34 mph in the 2016 season. That same year, he competed at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, running a time of 6.70 seconds in the 60-meter dash.

However, Lyles still might be the favorite if they face each other.
Hill ran a personal best in the 100 meters in high school, running 10.19 seconds. Lyles, who won his only Olympic gold medal, clocked 9.784 seconds in the men’s 100 meters final in Paris. He became the first American to win the race at the Olympics since Justin Gatlin in 2004.
