Katy Perry, 39, has already asked for permission to record the video for her new song “Lifetimes” in a protected sand dune area in the Balearic Islands. A spokesperson for the singer said this after it became known that Spanish authorities are investigating the video for possible damage to the dunes.
“We followed all the rules.”
The clip includes images of the protected sand dunes of Espalmador Island. According to the Balearic Islands’ Environment Agency, the production company responsible for filming the video did not ask for permission.
“The local video production company assured us that all necessary permits were in place,” a company spokesperson said in response. “We have since learned that one permit was pending, although we received verbal approval to proceed,” the spokesperson added. “We have complied with all filming regulations in this area and are respectful of this site and those responsible for protecting it.”
