Designer Fred Van Leer, 47, doesn’t want to think about being in a relationship again. He says this in the new episode of FunX DJ Fernando Halman’s podcast “Real Talk” (43). “I don’t want to think about being with someone anymore,” Fred says. “I’ve sworn off that right now. It’s not for me.”
“I like being alone, but that also extends to my work life.”
The presenter admits that he is “not a good team player”. “I can dance, but not with two people. I like to be alone, but that also extends to my work life. Because you know: I can throw everything out of myself without six hundred people having to pee on it.”
According to Fred, this is the first time in three or four years that he has been interviewed. “I don’t feel like it, because then I read it back and they just have to take a word out or sometimes turn it into a different word, so the whole context of the story is not right,” says the designer and producer. “I’ve always been very open, and also with the press, what you see is what you get, but people took advantage of that. I thought: I’m not going to say anything anymore. That’s actually very nice.”
He believes the media only writes about him when things go wrong: “And when things are going well, you see one sentence somewhere somewhere in the middle of nowhere. And then I also thought: Yeah, why should I do that? I’m just doing my own thing.”
Fred recently appeared in the media after dedicating several Instagram posts to his hospitalization. The designer was suffering from intestinal problems and may have needed surgery, but it was eventually canceled. Fred did not share exactly what he had.
