Everyone has heard of “50 Shades of Grey”, but have you heard of 50 Shades of Not Grey?
50 Shades of Not Grey is a program that will be hosted by the Office of Equity and Inclusion today at 5:30 p.m.
The program will discuss sex and consent.
The Title IX Investigator here at SHSU, Jasmine Rodriguez said the inspiration behind the event came from making sure the public clearly defined the yes and no of consent.
“The program event is to send the message that sex and consent needs to be clear,” Rodriguez said. “Yes means yes, no means no, and the silence or absence of no does not mean yes.”
This event will show students just how important consent is when having sex.
“Consent should be freely given, mutual, and informed,” Rodriguez said.
According to Rodriguez, after leaving the event, students should have the knowledge of what exactly is consent and no what to do in different situations.
“They should feel confident to yes or to say no,” Rodriguez said.
The event will be held in the Student Services Annex.
