A group of 29 vocal majors and nine vocal professors are visiting the University of North Texas in Denton Wednesday through Friday to participate in the Texoma Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition and Conference.

This competition and conference will give students experience and skills in vocal and performance techniques.

“NATS is a singing competition for all grade levels in college,” Rachel Haney, past NATS competitor, said. “The participants are extremely competitive because people come from all over Texas to compete.”

“There are also lots of different classes and famous teachers do workshops on acting, stage presences and other things,” Haney said.

“This is a great chance for students and teachers to compete and learn,” she said. “Its interesting hearing what other people sound like. It’s a great way to scope out your competition.”
