Captain Kevin Morris of the University Police Department would like to remind Sam Houston State University students to keep an eye on their belongings as the year comes to an end.
According to Morris, the number of car burglaries and theft of personal belongings increases as the holidays approach. “I guess criminals need to buy Christmas presents too,” said Morris.
Students can avoid being victims of robbery by making sure to be extra careful with their possessions. Morris advises students to keep their personal belongings with them at all times when they are on campus.
Leaving personal items, purses and wallets unattended is not a good idea at any time, but the chances of them being stolen increase at the end of the year.
Morris advises students who are victims of theft to call UPD immediately to report any stolen possessions.
