Six minutes into the team’s first tournament of the season Stacey Allen suffered a knee injury and the Bearkats began to suffer their third loss of the season.
The team’s leading scorer had 10 points against Kentucky when she went out of the game. The team would only post 45 more points during the game.
Kentucky ended the game on top 100-55.
Four Wildcats put up double digits against the Bearkats, and two put 22 points apiece in the books.
The Bearkats shot 30.8 percent from the floor and 31.8 percent from outside.
Crystal Jackson led SHSU with 15 points and was the only other Bearkat to break into the double digits.
After suffering the loss to Kentucky, the Bearkats finished the weekend with a loss to the University of Missouri-Kansas City, 70-49.
Kelly Brown led SHSU with 12 points, and Amy Barker followed with 10 points.
The team will travel to Baylor tonight, facing a nationally ranked team that is 4-0. The Bears are ranked 14th in the USA TODAY/ESPN coaches’ poll.
The Bearkats will be at home Friday, hosting Boston University at 7 p.m.
